OkACTE Guidance Awards

Awarding Excellence

The OKACTE Guidance Division is proud to have the opportunity to recognize its members and others for their excellence through several awards. Certain awards will be submitted through the OkACTE office award portal. Other awards will be submitted via email to OkACTE Guidance Awards Chair.

The awards included in the awards portal are: the OkACTE Outstanding New Professional Award, Career Guidance Award, and the Kaleidoscope Award. A description of each of these awards follows:

OkACTE Outstanding New Professional

This award is given to an individual who has been a primary member of the Guidance Division no less than two, but no more than five years. The nominee must NOT have previously attended an ACTE Convention. Six awards will be given by OkACTE to provide funding to attend the ACTE conference. Because the purpose of the award is professional development, award recipients are required to attend the entire convention, beginning with the opening General Session through the Closing Session including the Delegate Assembly.

Career Guidance Award

The Career Guidance Award has been established to recognize school counselors and career development professionals who are currently making significant contributions in career and technical education programs in their communities and/or state. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions to advocate, educate and communicate the value of CTE as a viable career option to a variety of audiences, including students and adults. They must also demonstrate exemplary efforts in helping students and/or adults evaluate their abilities, interests and talents that encourage them to develop academic and career goals aligned with career and technical education.

Kaleidoscope Award

The Kaleidoscope Award has been established to recognize those entities that embrace and promote diversity. Sincere commitment to processes and activities that promote a pluralistic campus, community, or agency must be demonstrated. These processes and activities must be aimed at developing, improving, and promoting awareness of and opportunities for integrating multiculturalism, gender equity, and those with physical disabilities into career and technology education programs.
